Originally from New Zealand, I spent eleven years living in Melbourne before moving to Sydney in 1993. Realising a career as a fashion-footwear buyer did not combine well with two young children, I returned to writing and have been freelancing since 1998.
I now write about travel, from weekends away to longer vacations, relaxing getaways to adventure holidays, both with my family and on my own.
My articles and photographs appear in a variety of newspapers, magazines and online travel sites. I regularly contribute to Escape, News Ltd’s national travel lift out, and my work has appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald, the Age, the Sun-Herald, The Weekend Australian and the New Zealand Herald.
Magazines and online includes ninemsn, Vacations & Travel, Get Up & Go, Voyeur, Out & About with Kids, Go Camping, Cruise Passenger, Club Marine and Cruising Helmsman among others. I’m also a regular reviewer for the SMH Good Pub Food Guide.
I take pride in producing articles that inform, entertain and inspire. In 2008 I was a finalist in the Australian Society of Travel Writers’ Travel Writer of the Year Award in the Australian story under 1000 words category.
I am a committee member of the Australian Society of Travel Writers, and member of the International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association, New Zealand Travel Communicators (Travcom), The Australian Journalists’ Association, Australian Society of Authors and the Society of Women Writers (NSW).
